Penang is described as ‘the Pearl of the Orient” and is the second largest city as well as port in Malaysia, it is situated at the north west of the Peninsular Malaysia along the Straits of Malacca.

Penang is also considered as a feedering port, as most of the shipments are transshipped either thru Port Klang or Singapore, but some shipping companies also do have direct sailing ex Penang port to various destinations.

There are a few industrial estates in Penang, the Free Industrial Estates, Free commercial Zone, licensed Manufacturing Warehouse, Cottage Industries, local and international trading house, sub-con suppliers, Prai Industrial Estates, Prai Free Trade Zones, and other small industrial estates.

Penang Port also handled for import and export shipments for the neighbouring state in the Northern part of the peninsular, such as Perlis, Kedah and northern Perak, and some suppliers from Southern Thailand as well are channeled through Penang Port as transshipment cargo.
